Lifespan Adult Services
-
Rehabilitative speech and voice therapy supports adults experiencing changes in communication or vocal function due to illness, injury, or neurological conditions. Services may address speech clarity, word-finding and language difficulties, fluency (stuttering), and voice concerns such as hoarseness, strain, fatigue, or changes in pitch and volume. Therapy is individualized and functional, with a focus on improving confidence and effective communication in everyday life, work, and social settings.
-
Rehabilitative swallowing therapy focuses on the treatment of dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing. Adults may experience swallowing challenges related to stroke, neurological conditions, medical illness, head and neck cancer, or age-related changes. Therapy may include exercises to improve swallowing strength and coordination, education on safe eating and drinking strategies, and individualized recommendations to promote comfort, safety, and quality of life.
-
Cognitive-communication therapy helps adults strengthen thinking and communication skills following stroke, traumatic brain injury, concussion, or in the presence of neurological conditions. Therapy is goal-oriented and practical, focusing on improving independence, daily functioning, and success at home, work, and in the community.
